  1. Figure 1 depicts an Office Chair There are many like this one, but for the purposes of this source work, this video contains the basic information needed to complete the courses. CLICK HERE for the link.
  2. Perform a thorough product analysis using techniques learnt in the Design Lectures researching the areas to support the Engineering Characteristics for the QFD, DFA, FMEA and Evaluation.
  3. For this coursework you are not required to model the item in CAD but you may wish to employ some of the techniques from your Metrology tuition where they impact the function.
  4. Briefly document the process in the diary format in Appendix A and add it as an Appendix of your own report. 2 pages max.
  5. Consider the performance of this particular ‘Office Chair’, there are many like it but this one is yours.
  6. For example: What is the heavy weight capacity of the chair?, How is it assembled?, What are the ergonomic requirements for the chair to facilitate easy standing or seating up?, Does the dining chair require any foot support for elderly customers?, What anthropometry data is available to meet the ergonomic requirements?
  7. You will need to use research skills and your engineering knowledge. All the basic information is within the video, but to attain the higher levels you’ll need to supplement this video with research of similar artefacts that complete the same function.
  8. The subject Librarian can also help you access technical papers and British Standards that might support your investigation.
  9. Compile a report documenting the whole project
  10. It must include all items from the Marking Criteria (below) and be structured in the same way.
