This assignment requires a written individual report that demonstrates an introductory knowledge to leading organisations in global market environment. It aims to develop your systematic appreciation of becoming a global leader and to understand how effective leadership and management behaviour can influence organisational performance. Further, it underlines the significance of leadership and organisational behaviour on the effectiveness of international business operations.

Assignment Task

A written individual report (3,000 words)
You are required to carry out a literature review of emerging trends in global leadership and organisational behaviour using an organisation of your choice. From the literature review, prepare a written report that demonstrates your understanding of how leadership and organisational performance can influence the effectiveness of international business operations.
DESCRIPTION OF THE TASK – WHAT YOU ARE BEING ASKED TO DO?
- Introduce the purpose and structure of the report including brief overview of the company you have chosen.
- Analyse key leadership theories with a critical evaluation of the theories adopted by leaders in your chosen organisation. Include relevant examples of organisational situations involving your company that would call for different leadership styles/approaches such as transformational, transactional, or charismatic.
- Provide a brief overview of how the function of leadership can further enhance the global organisational performance of the chosen company. Include examples to support your analysis.
- Explain the sources of leadership power and how employees of the company can contribute to leadership sustainability at a global level.
- Evaluate different aspects that may influence leadership effectiveness within the company – e.g., culture, gender, and the environment.
- Include a critical conclusion and provide key strategic recommendations for the company for future developments in leadership at a global level.
NB: Please choose an appropriate company with international operations (I.e., TNC, MNC, or global corporations).
Notes:
1. You are required to work effectively to determine an appropriate structure and layout for the work.
2. Your report should include and apply key theories, models, and concepts relevant to the requirements of the assignment task and be based on your chosen global company.

How your work will be assessed
|
Your work will be assessed on the extent to which it demonstrates your achievement of the stated learning outcomes for this assignment (see above) and against other key criteria, as defined in the University’s institutional grading descriptors. Critically evaluate contemporary leadership theories. If it is appropriate to the format of your assignment and your subject area, a proportion of your marks will also depend upon your use of academic referencing conventions.
This assignment will be marked according to the grading descriptors for Level 6.

Submission Details

This assignment should be submitted electronically via Moodle (module tutors will discuss this process with you during class time).
- Please ensure that your work has been saved in an appropriate file format (Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint, or PDF are the most widely used; Google Docs is also accepted). Your file must also contain at least 20 words of text, consist of fewer than 400 pages and be less than 40MB in size.
- You can submit your work as many times as you like before the submission date. If you do submit your work more than once, your earlier submission will be replaced by the most recent version.
- Once you have submitted your work, you will receive a digital receipt as proof of submission, which will be sent to your forwarded e-mail address (provided you have set this up). Please keep this receipt for future reference, along with the original electronic copy of your assignment

This assignment should be submitted before 14:00 UK time on Monday 22 November 2021.
You should submit all work for summative assessments by the above deadline. Work submitted up to three working days after the deadline will be accepted and marked, but the mark will be capped at the pass mark (40%) unless there is a valid reason for the late submission (i.e., having been granted an extension to the deadline or a deferral under the terms of the Extenuating Circumstances Policy).
